Allen Pyke were commissioned by Cambridge City Council to prepare a detailed landscape design for tender and to inspect works during construction for this reconditioned sheltered accommodation site in Cambridge, completed in 2009. The design includes a communal courtyard with a shaded seating area beneath a pergola and a multi-stemmed Birch as a central feature. The planting within the courtyard includes low maintenance, flowering and scented plants to appeal to the occupants. The landscape has been designed in consultation with the council’s architectural and landscape department, to meet operational and budgetary requirements.
